Back to School 2011-2012

Our West Englewood team was excited to see so many returning students, and new faces too, as we opened our doors on Wednesday for the 2011-2012 school year.  Currently our enrollment sits at 439 students.
This is up approximately 50 students from last year. This will continue to change for another week or so as all get settled into schools for the year.  We are anxious to work with all of our students and their families this year. It's going to be a great year of learning!

To continue the Back to School theme we hope to see you on Thursday night, Sept. 1st, from 6-8pm at Oak Grove Park for our PTA Back to School annual picnic.  Hotdogs, chips, cookies and drinks will be provided.  Plan to come and enjoy an evening with our West Englewood family.  Hope to see you there!

Summer

XLT is over.  Great learning fun was had by many Eagle students and staff.  Now is the time to enjoy some summer fun. Our staff is reading this summer and we strongly encourage our students to read daily also.  Continued reading will only benefit our students.  The public library has a great summer reading program you can take advantage of.  Checking out great reads and signing up for the reading program is FREE too. Be sure to tell me about the stories and books you enjoyed when you come back to school.
Some dates to be aware of:  Our office will open August 1st.  Enrollment for school is August 8th-11th.  The Back to School night is August 22nd from 6-7:30pm. Our first day of school is Wednesday, August 24th.
Have a safe summer and I look forward to seeing our students and families back for a fabulous 2011-2012 school year.

187 Eagles participate in XLT

This morning one of our XLT Eagles said today was a great day because they got to come to school!  What a great thing to hear from any student any day of the year but especially on a dreary rainy summer day.  They were excited about the camp time reading, mask making and a math challenge occurring today.  Wow! What a great way to start our Monday on the last week of XLT.  We have three more days of extended learning and hope to see a full house each day.
Have a great week Eagles!
